Chuck Season 2

Plot

Chuck Bartowski (Zachary Levi) is a twenty-something in Greater Los Angeles who works at his local Buy More as a computer expert in the Nerd Herd (parodies of Best Buy and its Geek Squad),^[12] a large retail consumer-electronics chain, with his best friend, Morgan Grimes (Joshua Gomez). Chuck's sister Ellie (Sarah Lancaster) and her now-husband Devon "Captain Awesome" Woodcomb (Ryan McPartlin) are doctors who are constantly encouraging Chuck to make progress in his professional and romantic life.

At the beginning of the series, Chuck receives an e-mail from Bryce Larkin (Matthew Bomer), his former Stanford University roommate, who is now an apparently "rogue" CIA agent. When he opens it, the entire database of all the US government's secret information—a neural supercomputer called The Intersect—is subliminally embedded into his brain. Both the NSA and the CIA want the intelligence returned to them and dispatch agents of their own—Major John Casey (Adam Baldwin) and Agent Sarah Walker (Yvonne Strahovski)—to retrieve the data.

Since the information was stolen by Bryce and the government's copy is destroyed in his attempted escape, and since Chuck experiences "flashes" of information from the database activated by certain triggers around him (such as faces, voices, in-context keywords, and various objects), he must use the knowledge he now possesses to help the government thwart assassins and international terrorists—upending his previously uneventful life. In order to preserve their safety, Chuck must keep his newfound occupation a secret from his family and friends, forcing Casey and Walker to establish an uneasy alliance and secret identities; Walker poses as Chuck's girlfriend and takes a cover job at a local restaurant near the Buy More while Casey reluctantly goes undercover as part of the Buy More team.

As the series progresses, it is revealed that rogue spies are engaged in a secret war with the legitimate intelligence community, and that Bryce stole the Intersect to keep the real rogue spies from capturing it. The rogue spies believe they can aid their cause by capturing the human Intersect or by building their own Intersect.

The government, meanwhile, wishes to rebuild the Intersect. This would make the Intersect in Chuck’s head redundant, making him a national security risk, so Casey is secretly under orders to kill Chuck if and when he becomes redundant.

Chuck, Sarah and Casey all face professional conflicts as they grow to respect each other and a genuine romantic interest develops between Chuck and Sarah. Chuck’s desire to maintain his close relationships and eventually return to a normal life is challenged by the dangers and growing responsibilities of his new secret life, and he gradually becomes a more competent, confident and willing spy.

As of Season 3, Chuck has willingly decided to become a real spy, to Sarah's chagin. Although he failed "spy school," his effectiveness in the field has led General Beckman to give him a second chance and reinstate him as a member of the team, where Daniel Shaw is introduced to encourage his development as an agent. Chuck must now learn to balance his emotions to control the Intersect, which is complicated by his lingering feelings for Sarah.

Plot summary

Burt and Vicky, a bickering married couple, are driving to California to fix their failing marriage. As they drive through rural Nebraska, the couple accidentally run over the body of a young boy who had been killed and thrown onto the road. Knowing they will have to report this to the authorities, they place the body in their car's trunk and continue down the road. They eventually arrive in Gatlin, a small, isolated town that seems to be abandoned. When they drive through the streets and visit an empty diner, the couple notice that many things about the town are out-of-date, such as gas prices and calendar dates. When they finally locate the police station, they find no one. This fact piques Burt's interest, and he tells a frightened Vicky that he is going to explore the town. By now, Vicky, verging on hysteria, begs Burt to leave Gatlin. When she reminds him that she has her own set of keys to the car, Burt seizes her purse and takes them, angrily summing up her manipulative attitude towards him throughout their marriage. He then leaves Vicky sitting helplessly in the car.

The only building in use that Burt can find is a church with a recent date on the sign out front. In stark contrast with the rest of Gatlin—which has been ravaged and neglected for years—the church is reverently cared for. Inside, Burt finds that the church has been vandalized by someone who has torn the lettering off of the walls, created a strange mosaic of Jesus behind the altar, and stuffed the pipes of the organ full of corn husks and leaves. At the altar, Burt finds a ledger where names have been recorded, along with birth and death dates. While reading the book, he notices that the children's original names were changed from modern names to Biblical ones, and that everyone listed as deceased in the book had died at age nineteen. Finally realizing the danger he's in, Burt runs from the church to find that a gang of children armed with farm tools has surrounded the car, with Vicky still inside. Burt intervenes when they attack, and kills a boy who had injured him with a knife. He discovers that Vicky has disappeared. Upon command from an older boy, the children chase Burt through Gatlin.

Finally outrunning them, Burt ducks into a cornfield and hides while his attackers search for him. Burt begins to walk through the corn as night falls. Becoming lost, Burt stumbles onto a circle of empty ground in the middle of the cornfield, where he discovers the skeletonized corpses of Gatlin's previous minister and police chief, bound to crosses made of bound corn. He also discovers Vicky's dead body. He is then captured and killed by an enormous creature who comes out of the cornfield. Later on, the children of Gatlin, all members of a baptist cult that worships a pagan god of corn called "He Who Walks Behind the Rows"—meet where Burt and Vicky were slain. Isaac, their leader, tells them that He Who Walks Behind The Rows is displeased with their failure to catch and kill Burt, an act that the creature was forced to commit on his own. He Who Walks Behind the Rows commands that the age limit be lowered from "nineteen plantings and harvestings to eighteen". The story ends with the eighteen-year-old children of Gatlin walking into the corn in an act of ritual sacrifice.

Charmed Season 8

Synopsis

The last season of the hit show opens with the sisters living under false identities following the events of the seventh season finale. They look forward to starting their new lives free of demons, however Paige is having trouble ignoring the call of her charges and goes to help a young witch 'Billie'. After deciding to vanquish the demon after her Billie discovers the sister's true identities and promises to keep their secret if they will train her in witch craft to which they agree.

The first few episodes show how unhappy each sister is becoming leading their decision to go back to their Charmed lives and they inlist the help of Agent Brody to do so. The rest of the season focus' on the sisters helping Billie control and expand her abilities and eventually searching for her sister Christy whom she believes was abducted by a demon when they were young.

While, to begin with they must hunt and destory demons who have begun taking control in their absence, The Charmed Ones are also told of 'The Ultimate Power' and that they face one final battle. After finding Christy it becomes clear to the audience that she has been brainwashed by the newly ressurected triad in to thinking the Halliwell's are evil and that she and her sister have the power to destory them.

Piper and Leo go through marital issues as Leo adjusts to his newly human life, while Phoebe begins to want more independce from her sisters and is sent a Cupid 'Coop' to help her find love because of all the sacrafices she made through her life. Paige begins to embrace her Whitelighter side more fully as she takes on more charges. Through this she meets and begins a romance with Henry Mitchell.

Charmed Season 7

Synopsis

The seventh season opens with the sisters reeling from Gideon's betrayal in the previous season's finale having lost faith in themselves and their instincts. These feelings have affected Phoebe's work and so her boss hires a ghost writer to replace her so she can take a break. When she discovers Elise has hired a man, Leslie St.Claire, she eventually warms to him and they have a brief relationship.

Leo is stalked by a mysterious unknown power, eventually revealed to be the Avatars. An almighty power who dream of creating a utopia on earth. After first being suspious of their motives the sisters slowly begin to accept their plans, especially after it is revealed that Leo has become an Avatar.

Piper must deal with raising Chris, her new son, and saving Leo who has sunk to a dark place after Gideon's attack and the death of future Chris. He becomes paranoid that the other Elder's are after him. Leo is also stalked by a mysterious unknown power, eventually revealed to be the Avatars - an almighty power who dream of creating a utopia on earth. After first being suspious of their motives the sisters slowly begin to accept their plans, especially after it is revealed that Leo has become an Avatar.

Paige fights to keep Magic school open, and eventually becomes headmistress as well as beginning a romance with Agent Kyle Brody. In the scond half of the season she hires Drake - a demon atoning for his sins by leading a life of good. Phoebe grows particularly close to him but trouble may lie ahead when he reveals the price attached to his bargain.

This season introduced Inspector Sheridan, who begins working with Daryl and is extremely suspious of the sisters and their history, as well as Zankou. Zankou is a demon whom The Source had locked away after a battle which brought him to power. Zankou begins to work to destroy the sisters leading them to make a life changing decision in order to destroy him.

Charmed Season 6

Synopsis

The sixth season opens with the sisters travelling to a mystical island to save Leo. After he returns he decides to stay on earth until he figures out who sent him away making life hard for Piper who is trying to adjust to her role a single mother to Wyatt. Leo is extremely suspious of Chris, who has become the sister's new Whitelighter, and whom they have grown to trust. Most of the season focus' on his reason for travelling back in time and his true connection to the Halliwells.

Phoebe gains the power of empathy allowing her to feel the emotions of others and the ability to rebound certain demonic powers. Her relationship with Jason becomes more serious as they decide to live together - will he be bale to handle her secret when she decides to admit the truth?

Paige begins taking temp jobs to create a life seperate from magic but finds this difficult when each job leaves her in a supernatural situation. Through this she meets Richard Montanna, a witch who has given using his powers.

Magic School is also introduced as a place where the future generations are trained in their powers and becomes a permanent locations for the sisters to go for protection and information.Here they meet Gideon, the headteacher, a whitelighter and old friend of Leo's. As the season progresses it would become clear that Gideon has become twisted in his belief of protecting the 'greater good'.

Charmed Season 5

Synopsis

Season 5 sees Piper deal with being a Charmed One whilst being pregnant. She struggles between protecting her baby and accepting a more passive role in fighting evil. After the birth and learning that she is the mother of a very important and powerful child, Piper must then face various demonic forces who intend to either kill or capture her son. She also has problems in her marriage to Leo as they both feel the other doesn't appreciate each other's responsibilities and needs.

Phoebe is finally able to let go of Cole emotionally, despite his re-appearance and constant tries to win her back. Her career as a columnist also begins to succeed as Phoebe becomes a local celebrity, while there she meets Jason Dean, the new editor, and begins a new romance with him.

Paige grows into her role as a Charmed One and decides to give up her job to focus on a life of magic. She also learns to accept her whitelighter side as she is given her first charge, who just happens to be her biological father Sam.

Charmed Season 4

Synopsis

Following Prue's death at the end of 'All Hell Breaks Loose' season 3 brings the arrival of Paige Matthews - half sister to the Halliwells. The girl's mother Patty had a love affair with her whitelighter Sam and discovered she was pregnant. Knowing she would never be able to keep the baby she gave her child to a local church so she would be given to a kind family.

Most of the first half of the season sees Piper and Phoebe coping with their sister's death, learning to accept Paige and teach her in the ways of witchcraft. They also focus on destroying The Source once and for all. Phoebe and Cole go through many difficulties in their relationship such as; Cole finding his place once he becomes human. The Charmed Ones must also deal with the new positions they find themselves in; Paige goes from being an only child to having two siblings as well as trying to fill the shoes of Prue, Piper must deal with becoming the oldest sister and head witch giving her more responsibility and Phoebe, who previously has been care-free, becomes to middle sister and must mediate between her two sisters, as well as starting her first full-time job as an advice columnist.

The second half of the season finds Cole fighting once again with an evil inside him, only this time it is The Source. Although he plans to rebuild the underworld and destroy The Charmed Ones, the human inside plots to convert Phoebe and have her rule by his side as his Queen. We are also introduced to The Seer who has an evil agenda of her own.

Charmed Season 3

Synopsis

The third season of Charmed sees many dramatic changes in the sister's lives. Prue begins looking for balance in her life, juggling her photography, her role as a Charmed one and her love life. Piper and Leo's relationship becomes serious as they plan to get married against the wishes of The Elders. Piper must also deal with controlling her new power of molecular combustion. Phoebe gains the 'active' power of levitation and starts a new romance with the assistant district attorney Cole Turner/Belthazor - a half human/half demon sent in to destroy the sisters.

Most of the first half of the season centres on Cole/Belthazor forcing his way into The Charmed One's by initiating a romance with Phoebe. However, over time he becomes conflicted between his duty and his love for her. Prue is extremly suspious of Cole from the beginning causing a rift between her and her youngest sister. The girl's father also comes back in to their lives, this time in a more permnant role as he heals his relationship with Prue and attends Piper's wedding.

The Charmed Ones begin to discover and understand the heirarchy of The Underworld as they learn of The Triad who are responsible for sending Belthazor and other various demons after them. They also learn of the existence of The Source.

This is the final season to star Shannen Doherty following her character's death in the season finale 'All Hell Breaks Loose'.

Charmed Season 2

Synopsis

The second season of Charmed is again characterized by the series' writers mantra: "Charmed is a show about three sisters who just happen to be powerful witches, not three witches who happen to be sisters". This formula enabled the Executive Producers stable of writers to gradually build on the sisters magic, while spending the shows main entertainment minute dealing with the human dilemma's complications and the vicissitudes of busy lives lays on anyone. Like the first season, the sisters would fight different forces of evil each episode and continued to focus on how such things impacted the sisters striving to live normal lives as far as such was possible.

Daryl Morris, Andy's police partner before his death, becomes a more prominent character as begins to learn about the sister's secret lives and helps them out in certain situations. The season also introduced two characters; neighbours Dan Gordon and his niece Jenny.

Piper, becoming frustrated with the limitations of her relationship with whitelighter Leo Wyatt is drawn to Dan creating a love triangle which lasted the majority of the season. She also opens a nightclub 'P3' which takes over from Quake as a place for the sisters to meet when not at the Manor. It also allowed the show to introduce musical guests either in the opening or ending of each episode. Phoebe decides to return to school to complete a degree in Psychology and Prue leaves her job mid-season to follow her dream of becoming a photographer. She also has a brief relationship with Jack Sheridan whom she meets at Bucklands before leaving.

This season also saw the sister' powers growing as they begin to write their own spells and gain more control over their powers, such as Phoebe being able to command premonitions, Piper selectively freezing objexts and Prue gaining the power of astral projection. They also begin to learn how to write and cast their spells and vaquishing potions.

Charmed Season 1

Plot synopsis

Overall

In the beginning, Charmed told the story of Prue, Piper and Phoebe Halliwell; three sisters who discover their family is the desendents of witches and their identity as 'The Charmed Ones' the most powerful good witches known to the magical world. After the death of their grandmother the three sisters move back into their family home (Halliwell Manor) and discover the Book of Shadows and their destiny to protect innocents and the world from demons and warlocks. Each sister gained a special power along with the ability to cast spells and brew potions; Prue, the eldest, had the power of telekinesis – the ability to move objects with her mind. This later evolved to the point of being able to astral project, or move her astral form outside of her body. Piper, the middle sister, has the power to affect molecules, at first to slow them down, effectively “freezing” people/objects. As she grows more proficient, she can freeze only certain people or only certain objects or body parts as she wishes. Her powers grow to being able to speed up molecules as well, to the point of making the molecules move so fast that they explode. Phoebe, the youngest, possesses “inactive” powers: the power of premonition, which evolves into being able to receive visions of both the future and the past, levitation, and later empathy (the ability to both sense and tap into others' emotions).

The show's major focus was on the lives of the three women and on their bond as sisters; their love for each other formed 'The Power of Three' as it was this connection that made them so strong. When Prue is killed in the Season 3 finale, Piper and Phoebe discover that they have a hidden half-sister, Paige Matthews, who is the daughter of their mother and her Whitelighter. Paige's Whitelighter blood mixes with her witchcraft heritage to give her a form of telekinesis, though she has to verbally call for objects to “orb” them where she wants them. As she learns to control the dual sides of her ancestry, Paige also learns how to heal people at will, to orb herself and others (the Whitelighter form of teleportation), and eventually she receives her own charges to train and protect as they learn witchcraft.

During the first two seasons the sisters would face various demons week to week but as the show progressed they learnt of the demonic heirarchy and of Source of All Evil. The Source is discovered to be behind all the attacks on the sisters and becomes the main villian during Season 4 until he is finally vanquished. After this a season long storyline was introduced and an evil being/opponent along with it.

On top of the supernatural issues in Charmed, the characters had to contend with serious issues in the day-to-day world of the mortals, such as relationships, careers, marriage, childbirth, illness and the deaths of their loved ones. The sisters also had to fight to prevent the exposure of the existence of magic to the community at large, contending with several police and FBI investigations.

Cave Of The Golden Roses Volume 1

Synopsis

The story is about Fantaghirò, the rebellious youngest daughter of a warrior king. Although the women in the kingdom are supposed to do proper womanly things like cook, sew and be loyal to their husband, Fantaghirò wants to fight in battle. She constantly argues with her father and two sisters Caterina and Carolina who disapprove of her behaviour.

Fantaghirò secretly learns to fight when she befriends the White Knight, a mysterious warrior whom she meets in the forest. As they are training, she briefly crosses paths with King Romualdo, the ruler of a neighbouring enemy kingdom. Romualdo is enchanted by Fantaghirò's eyes, but is unaware that they belong to the daughter of his sworn enemy.

Romualdo, who is tired of the centuries-old war between the two kingdoms, sends an offer of a single duel to determine the outcome of the war. Fantaghirò's father, the King, is told by the magical White Witch that only one of his daughters can win the duel. Seeing no other option, the King commands Fantaghirò and her two sisters Caterine and Carolina to dress up as knights so that one may fight Romualdo. They agree to keep the identity of the three "knights" secret, in case Romualdo would refuse to fight a woman. While Caterina and Carolina complain about the hot and heavy armour, Fantaghirò relishes the opportunity and cuts her hair to make her look like a boy.

As they are travelling to Romualdo's kingdom, the three sisters get into another argument. Fantaghirò eventually apologises, but Caterina and Carolina decide that their youngest sister is the most qualified to win the duel. Caterina and Carolina return to their father, and Fantaghirò continues on her journey.

Fantaghirò eventually meets with Romualdo, who is confused when he recognises her eyes. After various attempts by Romualdo to discover her true gender by trickery, they eventually battle and Fantaghirò emerges victorious. However, she cannot kill him and returns home in shame. Fantaghirò's father, who is proud of what his daughter has achieved, forgives her. The King also allows Romualdo to continue to rule his people, on the condition that he marry one of the three princesses. Although at first Romualdo is hesitant to agree, when he sees Fantaghirò dressed up as a woman, the two kiss happily.

Plot summary

After attempting to start a new life in Los Angeles, Buffy returns to town in Season Three. Angel is resurrected, but after he and Buffy realize that a relationship between them can never happen, he leaves Sunnydale at the end of the season. Giles is fired from the Watcher's Council because he had developed a "father's love" for Buffy, and towards the end of the season Buffy announces that she will also no longer be working for the council. Early in the season she is confronted with an unstable Slayer, Faith Lehane, who was called up after Kendra's death near the end of season 2, as well as affable Sunnydale Mayor Richard Wilkins, who has plans to become a giant snake demon on Sunnydale High's Graduation Day. Although she works with Buffy at first, after accidentally killing a human, Faith becomes irrational and sides with Mayor Wilkins, although she is placed into a coma after a fight with Buffy. At the end of the season, Buffy and the entire graduation class defeat Mayor Wilkins by blowing up Sunnydale High, killing him in the process.

Plot summary

The emotional stakes are raised in Season Two. New vampires Spike and Drusilla (weakened from a mob in Prague, which presumably caused her debilitating injury), come to town along with the new slayer, Kendra Young, who was activated as a result of Buffy's brief death in the Season One finale. Xander becomes involved with Cordelia, while Willow becomes involved with witchcraft and Daniel "Oz" Osbourne, who soon becomes a werewolf after being bitten by a young cousin who just happens to be a werewolf. Buffy and the vampire Angel develop a relationship over the course of the season, but after they sleep together, Angel's soul, given to him by a curse, is lost and he once more becomes Angelus, a sadistic killer. He torments much of the "Scooby Gang" throughout the rest of the season and murders multiple innocents and Gile's new girl-friend Jenny Calendar, a gypsy that had been sent to make sure that the curse that gave Angel his soul was never broken. Buffy is forced to kill him (right after Willow restores his soul) and leaves Sunnydale, emotionally shattered.

Plot summary

Season One exemplifies the "high school as hell" concept. Buffy Summers has just moved to Sunnydale after burning down her old school's gym and hopes to escape her Slayer duties. Her plans are complicated by Rupert Giles, her new Watcher, who reminds her of the inescapable presence of evil. Sunnydale High is built atop a Hellmouth, a portal to demon dimensions that attracts supernatural phenomena to the area. Buffy meets two schoolmates, Xander Harris and Willow Rosenberg, who help her fight evil through the series, but they must first prevent The Master, an ancient and especially threatening vampire, from opening the Hellmouth and taking over Sunnydale.
